TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Two brothers accused of using a tunnel to smuggle cocaine across the Arizona-Mexico border have been found guilty of drug and firearms charges.

Jesus David Alverez, 33, of Bisbee, Ariz., faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison for his convictions on charges of operating a continuing criminal enterprise and firearms violations.

Francisco Javier Alverez, also of Bisbee, was convicted Friday of drug conspiracy violations. He faces 10 years to life.

In May 1999, federal agents found a tunnel linking Naco, Mexico, with Naco, Ariz. Investigators confiscated $1.5 million in cash and seized about 2,668 pounds of cocaine.
