H. Roger Boyer, known for developing more than 13 million square feet of commercial property throughout the West, will now be developing links between the University of Utah and the community.

Gov. Mike Leavitt appointed Boyer to the Board of Trustees at the U. last month, saying he will serve as a liaison between the school and citizens of the state.

Boyer will replace Dave Buhler, whose term has expired, and serve through June 2003.

"We're very pleased by the governor's decision to appoint such a well-respected community leader," said J. Bernard Machen, president of the school. "Boyer brings a wealth of experience to the university."
