HUNTINGTON — A 38-year-old man was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center after rescue crews found him buried in an avalanche Saturday morning.

The man, snowmobiling in Seeley Canyon about 20 miles northwest of Huntington, was buried in about 5 feet in the snow, Emery County Sheriff Lamar Guymon said. Rescuers found his snowmobile at about noon, began digging below it and heard yells for help. Shortly after, they found him.

Emery County sheriff's deputies and about 12 snowmobilers helped find the man. When he left on a medical helicopter he was alert and complaining of pain in his leg and shoulder, Guymon said.
