SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Tied with Boise State after three rotations, the Utah State gymnastics team turned in the seventh-best bar score in school history (49.200) to overtake the Broncos and win the 2001 Big West Championships with a final score of 195.675 Saturday night in the Thunderdome.

Cal State Fullerton finished second with 194.850, defending conference champion Boise State came in third with a 194.250, while host UC Santa Barbara rounded out the competition with a school record 193.575 score.

USU's Big West title marks the fourth gymnastics championship for the Aggie program. Utah State previously won the conference meet in 1992, 1996 and 1998.

USU coach Ray Corn was named the Big West Coach of the Year after his team's win. This is the third time Corn has been honored by the conference.
