George Hutchinson Swan, 50, of Twin Falls died Thursday, March 22, 2001 at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born April 16, 1950 in Salt Lake City, UT the son of J.W. and Elizabeth Hutchinson Swan. George was reared and attended schools in Kaysville, UT, and graduated from Davis High School in 1968. He attended the University of Utah where played football, was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and from which he graduated in 1973. On June 6, 1973 he married Rebecca Stoddard in Salt Lake City, UT, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple on Oct. 22, 1983. They moved to the House Creek Ranch in Rogerson where they lived until moving to Twin Falls in 2000. George was an active member of the L.D.S. Church, was a member of the Twin Falls High Council, was president of the Idaho Cattlemen's Association in 1994, President of the 71 Livestock Association, President of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association in 1999, and was elected to the Idaho State Legislature in 2000. His greatest love was being with his family, watching his son Hutch team rope, his daughter Jenny dance, or his younger daughters, Ali and Caitie cow cut, or
compete in rodeo queen contests.
In addition to his wife, Rebecca, of Twin Falls he is survived by four children: George Hutchinson (Trudy) Swan, Jr., of Rexburg, Idaho; Jennifer, Allyson, and Caitlin Swan, all of Twin Falls; his mother: Elizabeth H. Swan of Kimberly; one brother: John W. (Marti) Swan of Jerome; two sisters: Katherine Swan-Jones, Rich Stivers of Twin Falls, and Barbara (Curt) Anderson of Evergreen, Colorado. George was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Swan, and by one sister Diane Marchetti.
Funeral services for George H. Swan will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at the 3rd Ward L.D.S. Chapel on Elizabeth Blvd. in Twin Falls, Idaho, with Bishop Randy Welch, conducting. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call at White Mortuary, 136 4th Ave. N. Twin Falls, Idaho, Monday, March 26 from 4-8 p.m., and at the church from 8:45 - 9:45 a.m. on Tues.
