The Pittsburgh Penguins made sure their place in the NHL record books is safe for now.

The Penguins snapped the New Jersey Devils' franchise-record 13-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory Sunday. The run tied the third-longest in NHL history and was four games shy of the league record set by the Penguins in 1993.

"It was going to happen sooner or later," Devils defenseman Brian Rafalski said. "You don't want it to, but it does. You can't complain about a 13-1 stretch."

The Devils hadn't lost since Feb. 23 against Carolina.

"It was nice while it was going on," goaltender Martin Brodeur said. "I don't think we put any extra pressure on ourselves. It was nice coming to the rink, knowing we could make history every day."

Martin Straka scored twice and Aleksey Morozov scored the go-ahead goal as the Penguins ended a three-game winless streak. Robert Lang added an empty-net goal with four seconds left.

"This game was just the confidence boost we needed heading into the playoffs," Mario Lemieux said. "We know that (the Devils) have a lot of confidence and are going to be a team that we have to go through to get to the Stanley Cup."

Johan Hedberg stopped 25 shots for the Penguins, who won the season series with the Devils 3-1-1.

Jason Arnott and Rafalski scored for the Devils, who had three good scoring chances in the final three minutes only to see Hedberg deny Petr Sykora, Rafalski and Scott Niedermayer. The loss left the Devils tied with Ottawa atop the Eastern Conference with 99 points.

"We read a lot of articles about the streak and knew they had a lot on the line," Penguins defenseman Bob Boughner said.

CANUCKS 2, WILD 2: Trent Klatt and Donald Brashear scored for Vancouver, which squandered a two-goal lead and closed its longest road trip of the season with a 1-2-4 record.

WillieMitchell and FilipKuba scored for Minnesota, which is winless in its last eight games.

FLAMES 3, BLACKHAWKS 1: Jarome Iginla scored his 30th goal of the season and assisted on Dave Lowry's go-ahead score as visiting Calgary won for just the second time in 11 outings.

Calgary's CraigConroy added a late short-handed insurance goal, and Flames goalie FredBrathwaite stopped 26 shots.

BRUINS 3, RANGERS 2: Bill Guerin and P.J. Axelsson scored 57 seconds apart in the third period to give Boston an important victory over New York in its fight to make the playoffs.

Guerin, who also had an assist, snapped a 1-1 tie 6:39 into the third with his career-high 38th goal. Axelsson made it a two-goal lead for the visiting Bruins, two points behind eighth-place Carolina in the race for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot.
