Mom taught in the Richfield schools until 1959 when the family moved to Layton, UT. Mother taught English and Utah history at Central Junior High in Layton, and also taught English at Layton High School, until she retired in 1974. Her expertise and knowledge helped many young people obtain the educational skills to further their personal growth and futures. She always enjoyed former students who would walk up to her on the street and let her know they enjoyed her as a teacher.

She loved her family and the Church and was always there to help with positive comments and lots of love. She valued the beautiful things of life, the literature and arts of the past, and the scenery of the world. Reading books by the armload, watching movies, or studying history and religion were some of her hobbies. Going on rides and exploring new territory were favorite pastimes of Mom and Dad. Later, because of physical limitations, she traveled in her easy chair via books and video tapes.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Therald (Pat) Helquist, Englewood, CO, Val (LouAnn) Helquist, Layton, Dave (Rose) Helquist, Kaysville. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; 19 great grandchil-dren; and one sister, Dorthy Funk, Orange, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Larry; one grandchild, Christy Helquist; one great-grandchild, David Lannie Helquist; three brothers and four sisters.
