The Salt Lake Organizing Committee will once again refer journalists who are seeking information about the 2002 Winter Games to the Utah Travel Council, spokeswoman Caroline Shaw said on Monday.
SLOC announced last week it was reassessing its relationship with the Travel Council after some journalists who visited in February complained about receiving information from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during a tour sponsored by the Travel Council.
During the tour, said participating reporters, the journalists attended a dinner hosted by the Salt Lake Convention and Visitor Bureau. They were joined by representatives of the church, who handed out calendars and promotional materials, the journalists said.
Last week, Shaw branded the incident "inappropriate."
On Monday she said SLOC will continue to work with the Travel Council.
"We did and were going to refer media there under the caveat that they do not refer to these as Olympic tours and are a little more sensitive about who they invite" to address the journalists, she said.
SLOC provides tours of Olympic venues for accredited media only. Visiting reporters who are not among the approximately 9,000 journalists who have been issued special credentials to cover the 2002 Games must look to other sources for tours, including the Travel Council.
