Shirley Jones is going on tour with a fashion exhibit, which, as it turns out, was no guarantee that her clothes would arrive in Manhattan when she did.

"I traveled in this outfit, slept in this outfit and you're getting me in this outfit," Jones told last week's kickoff luncheon with journalists and cable TV executives.

Jones, star of 1955's "Oklahoma!" and 1962's "The Music Man," wore a casual blue jacket and pants. The dressy navy suit that she'd planned to wear was packed in her luggage, which failed to arrive from Los Angeles.

She'll travel with American Movie Classic's "Fashion in Film-On Tour," which is bringing re-created movie costumes to malls in 12 cities. The tour opens in Boston on Wednesday and will end in Detroit on May 5.
