SAN DIEGO (AP) — The maker of the lubricant WD-40 is acquiring the company that produces Carpet Fresh and several other household products.

WD-40 Co. said Monday that it will acquire Global Household Brands, based in Edison, N.J., for an undisclosed price.

The company said in a press release that it will finance the purchase with the proceeds of a recent $85 million credit facility.

In addition to Carpet Fresh, Global Household Brands manufactures X-14, 2000 Flushes and other products.

WD-40, based in San Diego, also makes 3-in-One Oil as well as the Lava and Solvol brands of heavy-duty hand cleaners. The company had sales of $152.7 million last year.
