James Posey was perfect when he had to be.
With two-tenths of a second left in regulation and the Denver Nuggets trailing by two points, Posey went to the free-throw line.
"You dream about these situations," he said. "Being in them is totally different. In the dream, you don't hear the fans, see the waving balloons and the "brick" signs behind the basket. I heard and saw everything tonight."
He sank both shots to send the game into overtime, where Denver beat the Bulls 109-104, winning in Chicago for the first time since 1994.
One player missed Posey's game-tying free throws. Teammate Antonio McDyess stood under the basket but turned his back and stared into the stands.
"I couldn't bear to watch," said McDyess, who finished with 35 points. "I wouldn't want to be in that situation, so I just hoped and prayed he'd make them."
McDyess made two free throws of his own with 53 seconds left in overtime to snap the final tie. Posey followed with two more free throws before Jamal Crawford's 3-pointer brought Chicago within one. But Denver sank four free throws in the final seconds to close out the victory.
McDyess finished with 35 points, Posey had 23 and George McCloud, playing in place of the injured Nick Van Exel, had an NBA season-high 22 assists.
