PRICE--<! > Thelma Mathis Jewkes, age 88, passed away March 26, 2001 in Price.
She was born Janu-ary 18, 1913 in Price to James Samuel and Mary Ann Robb Mathis.
She married Joseph Lamar Jewkes July 2, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Thelma was always well groomed and meticulous in her per-sonal appearance and in the way she cared for her home. She has always been a care giver to family or friends, some of whom were very ill and depended on her for everything. She worked as a librarian in the Price City Library and for the school lunch program for Carbon County School District.
She is survived by her two daughters: Marianne J. (Lynn) Bennett of Helper and Carolyn J. (Arden) Sherrill of Green River, Utah; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grand-children and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Joe, daughter-in-law Karen Atwood, sons-in-law Lawrence Anderson and Dennis Watkins and grandson Barry Jewkes, and brothers Elwood, Clair, Rex and Wallace.
Funeral services will be held Thursday March 29, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Price North Stake Center located at 400 North and 100 East where friends may call one hour prior to services. Fausett Mortuary will be open Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for those who wish to sign the register. Burial will be in the Price City Cemetery.
