Clifford L. Hoopiiaina passed away March 25, 2001 at home surrounded by his family after a long illness.

He was born in Salt Lake City to Benjamin K. Hoopiiaina and Caroline Fia Salanoa and raised in "Swedetown". He graduated from West High School and attended Utah State University where he excelled in football. For a brief time he played for the Salt Lake Seagulls, the only Utah professional football team. He married Ann Sanders October 28, 1949 in Salt Lake City. He was a ceramic tile setter for 40 years and enjoyed golf, fishing trips with his family and trips to Wendover.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Peggy (Wayne) Koceja; sons, Randy, Mark (Jill), and Nick (KJ); thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, John, Malu, Ben and Wilford and a great- granddaughter, Brianna Hoopiiaina.

Family wishes to express a special thank you to John Caputo, a lifelong friend for his loving concern for our father in his final days.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2001 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 10600 S. 1700 E. Sandy, Utah at 1:30 p.m. where friends may call Wednesday March 28, 2001 from 6-8 p.m. and between 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. the day of the service.
