Senators 3, Flyers 3
The Ottawa Senators stole a point from the Philadelphia Flyers and moved into first place in the Eastern Conference.
Alexei Yashin scored late in the third period to lift the Senators to a 3-3 tie with the Flyers on Monday night, moving them one point ahead of the idle New Jersey Devils for the conference lead.
"We played a very good hockey game," Yashin said. "It's not like we expected to win. The game was a tie, (but) we played a great hockey game."
With the tie, the Senators reached the 100-point mark for just the second time in team history.
Justin Williams, Kent Manderville and Paul Ranheim scored for Philadelphia, which snapped its two-game losing streak and moved within six points of the Devils for first place in the Atlantic Division.
But the Flyers might be without Keith Primeau for a while.
Primeau, Philadelphia's second-leading scorer, sprained his left knee after a hit by Chris Phillips in the third period and will be sidelined at least a week. He was to be re-evaluated Tuesday after an MRI. Sami Salo, one of Ottawa's special teams leaders, was hit in the mouth with a high stick from Philadelphia's Rick Tocchet in the first period. Salo returned, but later left with a mild concussion and is listed as day-to-day.
CANADIENS 4, HURRICANES 2: Patrice Brisebois had his first two-goal game of the season as Montreal snapped Carolina's three-game home winning streak.
The Canadiens, in last place in the Northeast Division, beat the Hurricanes for the second time in 12 days at the Entertainment and Sports Arena to improve to 7-0-0-2 in the teams' past nine meetings. Craig Darby and Martin Rucinsky also scored for Montreal.
Sami Kapanen and Martin Gelinas scored for the Hurricanes.
SABRES 4, THRASHERS 0: Miroslav Satan scored two goals, and Donald Audette's first goal for Buffalo came against his former team as the Sabres won at Atlanta.
It was Audette's 33rd goal of the season and first in five games for Buffalo, which acquired him five minutes before the March 13 trade deadline.
Dominik Hasek stopped 19 shots for his 10th shutout of the season for the Sabres, who have won six of seven and allowed just two goals in their past four games.
OILERS 4, BLUE JACKETS 2: Daniel Cleary set up Eric Brewer's tying goal, then scored the go-ahead goal less than five minutes later as Edmonton beat Columbus.
Mike Grier and Anson Carter also scored for the Oilers, who won for only the second time in six games following a franchise-record nine straight victories.
David Vyborny and Lyle Odelein scored for the visiting Blue Jackets, who have one win in their past five games.
KINGS 0, SHARKS 0: Felix Potvin needed to make just 15 saves, and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 27 shots as Los Angeles and San Jose tied.
It was the fifth scoreless tie for the visiting Sharks in their 10-year history, and their second this season. The Kings have played 10 scoreless ties.
