SANDY — An Alpine School District psychologist has been arrested on charges of molesting two relatives.
The man, 58, was charged with five counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child. He is accused of inappropriately touching two girls, now ages 16 and 13, over a 6- to 7-year period, said Sandy Police Lt. Kevin Thacker.
Four counts of aggravated sexual abuse were filed for incidents involving the 13-year-old, Thacker said. One count was filed for incidents involving the older girl.
Most of the alleged attacks took place at the man's Sandy home, Thacker said. Police were contacted after one of the girls said something to her parents.
As of Tuesday, investigators did not believe there were any other victims.
"Our investigation is closed unless someone else comes forward," Thacker said.
Susan Stone, an Alpine assistant superintendent, said the man has been suspended pending the police investigation.
He has worked for the Utah County district since 1986, and was currently assigned to counsel children at Forbes and Barrett Elementary schools.
The man was being held Tuesday in the Salt Lake County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bail.
