SOUTH JORDAN — A section of Redwood Road may soon get a new look.
Wednesday night the city's Redevelopment Agency will consider a "Redwood Corridor Survey Area" from about 10400 South to 11400 South. The goal is to determine if the area meets state standards for blight. If it does, farm land, open space and some older residential areas will likely become commercial development.
Creating RDAs is one of the few tools cities have to attract economic development, said Keith Morey, deputy city manager. Currently, many residents are forced to go elsewhere for shopping needs. "The city feels responsible to provide opportunities in this community."
A decision Wednesday would only create a survey area. Already, though, the city has met with approval from several landowners and existing business owners. The Redevelopment Agency meets at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
