Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on

Thursday, March 22, 2001 in Salt Lake City.

Gladys was born August 6, 1912, in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of Peter and Ida Anderson. She was the youngest of seven children. She married Don C. Nelson on April 29, 1937, in Ogden. He passed away on March 3, 1995. Gladys was a brilliant and literate person who lived life with a gratefulness. She very much loved her husband Don, son David, his wife Linda, and her grandchildren and great- grandchild. One of her greatest passions in life was her career as a teacher in the Ogden and Weber public schools. She was a superb teacher who loved the profession and loved her students. She was totally dedicated to excellence in her chosen field and left hundreds of third graders much richer for having been their mentor. She was truly an inspiration to both her students and her colleagues. She was a proud graduate of Ogden High, Weber College, and Utah State University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Education in 1933. Gladys took great pride in the accomplishments of her family and her strong values were a source of inspiration for each of us.

Gladys is survived by her son Dr. David E. Nelson and his wife Linda. Also surviving are her grandson David, his wife Lynnett, and Gladys' great-granddaughter Amanda, as well as her granddaughter Taryn and Taryn's husband Jay Seawright. She is also survived by one sister, Virginia Taylor of Portland, Oregon.
