Riverton High School students got an unexpected day off Tuesday because of a bomb threat.

A man whose phone number is different from the school's by one number got a phone call just after 9 a.m. that the building was going to be blown up. The man called the school to relay the message.

At first, the 2,200 students and faculty members were evacuated into the football stadium. Later, they were moved into the gymnasium after it was determined to be safe.

Bomb dogs searched the school but did not find anything. When the bomb squad was done about 12:30 p.m., administrators decided to cancel the rest of the day.

Sheriff's investigators were able to trace the original bomb threat call to a phone inside the school. Making a bomb threat is a felony offense.
