As an individual with a very limited fixed income, being unable to work because of health problems, I watch my rent and utilities go up and my spendable income dwindling.

Also it is disheartening that in our society, each member of a household needs to work just to make basic needs (shelter, food, clothing and transportation), and even then, they still are below the poverty level.

Single heads of households need to work two or more jobs just the make the basic needs, and then their children suffer because the adult just doesn't have enough time in the day to devote to the family.

The proposed tax cuts do nothing for the poor or nearly poor in our society, and with the talk of $2 trillion-plus in surplus, plus all the billions of dollars our government sends out in foreign aid, wouldn't it be nice to help us here at home?

My proposal is that the government give each American over 21 (and those not yet a millionaire) a million dollars. The people could put it in a trust, buy stock, spend, save or whatever their desire. This way it would help the poor, the homeless, the middle class, etc. to become independent and off of government support.
