SANDY--<! > Vernon Hobart Sweet, age 79, of Sandy, passed away March 26, 2001, in the Alta View Hospital.

He was born June 3, 1921, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the son of Eugene and Ella Thompson Sweet. He married Phyllis Brown on February 6, 1924, in Salt Lake City.

Vernon was a veteran of the Army in World War II and was a regional service manager for construction and mining manufac-turing. He was very active in community services and did volunteer police work having recently received the City of Sandy (Noel Bateman) Award for his service. He loved music, camping, fishing, and enjoys working with gems and stones.

He is survived by his wife of Sandy; and one sister, June Sweet, of Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by a son, James Eugene Sweet, and three brothers.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Alta View Estates Clubhouse, 9830 S. State St., Sandy. Graveside services will be Monday, April 2, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Lehi City Cemetery, 400 E. 1100 N., under the direction of Wing Mortuary, Lehi.
