FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — The mother of a student killed in 1999 during a bonfire collapse at Texas A&M University has filed a lawsuit that names the school and other defendants.

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday on behalf of Jacquelynn Kay Self, seeks unspecified monetary damages. In addition to the university, it also names four Texas A&M administrators, two crane operators, two construction companies and 15 students who organized the bonfire.

Engineering technology student Jerry Don Self, 20, of Arlington was among 12 students killed Nov. 18, 1999, when the 59-foot-high stack of more than 5,000 logs collapsed.

The bonfire was an annual tradition at the school but has since been canceled.
