Ivy Anderson Nielson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died peacefully on March 27, 2001, at the age of 86. Her husband and life long companion, Morris, and daughter, Anne, were by her side.
She was born in Central, Utah to Niels Henry and Christy Nielsen Anderson on January 21, 1915. She attended public schools in Elsinore and Monroe. An excellent student, she developed a life-long love for books and reading. Growing up in a musical family, she also enjoyed an enduring love for music. Ivy deeply loved her three children, fully supporting them in their times of sorrow and rejoicing with them in their good times
On September 22, 1936, Ivy married her sweetheart of seven years, Morris B. Nielson. As a dedicated wife, she was known for her excellent homemaking, cooking, and sewing skills. As a member of the LDS Relief Society, she preformed volunteer service for the local native American Community, developing many special friendships. She loved the outdoors. She particularly loved collecting rocks and antique glass. Later in life, she received her temple endowments and regularly attended the Provo Temple. She loved to tend her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Morris Borg Nielson, Provo, Utah; three children, Marjorie Anne Nichols, Las Vegas, Nevada; Gregory Morris Nielson, Mesa, Arizona; and Douglas Adolph Nielson, Orem, Utah; one brother, Chester Anderson, Annabella, Utah, and one sister, Freda Anderson, Richfield, Utah. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Ivy will be honored with services on Monday, April 2, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary Chapel, 50 S. 100 West, where friends and family may call from 12-12:45. Burial, Richfield City Cemetery.
