TENNIS: BYU junior Gert Vilms and sophomore Dominique Reynolds have been selected Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively. Both players earn MWC honors for the first time this season.
SOFTBALL: After giving up two first-inning runs, the BYU softball team settled down and beat Colorado State 6-2 in its first game of Mountain West Conference play Thursday. The second game was canceled due to rain.
WOMEN'S TENNIS: On a road trip to Las Vegas, the BYU women's tennis team lost to the No. 1 team in the country 7-0 on Thursday afternoon.
WOMEN'S GOLF: BYU finished sixth after shooting its lowest three-round total in two years as three golfers placed in the top 20 at the Thompson Rainbow Invitational on Thursday.
BASEBALL: BYU pulled within a half game of first place in the Mountain West Conference Thursday evening with a 8-3 victory over Nevada Las Vegas. BYU, now 15-13 overall and 6-4 in the league, stopped a two-game losing streak as Nate Fernley struck out eight for his third complete game this season to improve his record to 9-1.
