A two-week investigation led Salt Lake police to a pair of homes containing more than $80,000 worth of drugs, money and guns.

The bust netted 665 tablets of the popular club drug ecstasy, with an estimated street value of $26,600. Police also found 2.5 kilos of psychedelic mushrooms worth about $28,160 on the street, 20 grams of cocaine worth about $1,600, 71 grams of marijuana valued at $350 and 2 grams of hashish, a drug that resembles black tar heroine, worth about $200.

Along with the drugs, police confiscated $21,310 in cash, three handguns and one sawed-off shotgun.

Police arrested two men living at one of the homes, 3485 S. 3125 East. Both men, ages 22 and 24, were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of several drug and weapons-related charges.

"It's hard to say where they are on the dope-selling chain," Sgt. Fred Louis said, "but you look at all this stuff, and it's a great arrest for our department."

More arrests are expected in connection with the ongoing investigation, which was started after police received a tip. Undercover officers then began making buys until they had enough evidence to serve a search warrant on the two homes.
