WOMEN'S TENNIS: Utah State's women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Northern Arizona at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club here on Friday. USU fell to 3-7 on the year while Northern Arizona improved to 5-11.

GYMNASTICS: Tickets are available for BYU fans wanting to attend the regional gymnastics meet to be held at UCLA on April 7. The Cougars, ranked No. 11 will be competing against the No. 1 team in the country, UCLA, as well as No. 13 Oregon State, California, Boise State and Cal State Fullerton.
Tickets are available by calling the UCLA ticket office at 310-825-2101 or you can buy them on-line at www.tickets.ucla.edu.
General admission ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children 17 and under. To sit with the BYU section, once you enter ask the usher where they are located.
WOMEN'S TENNIS: Just one day after a 7-0 defeat at the hands of No. 1 Stanford, the BYU women's tennis team bounced back to defeat San Diego State, 4-3, at the Fertitta Tennis complex in Las Vegas on Friday afternoon.
Utah
HONORS: Three University of Utah athletes have been selected as All-America Strength and Conditioning Athletes by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Seniors Andy Bowers, a defensive end for the Ute football team, and Amy Ewert, a guard/forward for the Utah women's basketball team, were cited along with freshman baseball player Mike Westfall. The NCSA selected 173 athletes from 74 colleges and universities across the country for its 2001 All-America team.
SOFTBALL: The University of Utah softball team opened Mountain West Conference play on the road with a win and a tie over the New Mexico Lobos.
The Utes (19-15-1) ended a seven-game win streak for the Lobos (27-14-1) by shutting them down 14-5 in the first game and tying the second game at 5-5, on Fri., Mar. 30 in Albuquerque, N.M.
Southern Utah
BASEBALL: SUU's baseball team pounded out eight home runs, including three by senior 2B Todd Mitchell, en route to a doubleheader sweep over Chicago State in the T-Birds' Mid-Continent Conference opening series Friday afternoon in Cedar City. Every T-Bird batter had at least one hit as SUU rallied from an 8-1 second-inning deficit to win the opener, 17-12, while the 'Birds came back from a 7-1 hole to take the finale, 12-7.
Utah Valley State
SOFTBALL: Utah Valley State College moved past Snow College into first place in the Scenic West women's softball standings by sweeping the Badgers 4-1 and 10-3 Friday.
SLCC
BASEBALL: Salt Lake Community College swept a baseball doubleheader from Ricks College Friday, prevailing 2-1, 8-6. Gentry Beckstead picked up the victory by striking out 14 batters in the first game.
In the second game, Kelly Peck's grand slam in the bottom of the last inning helped the Bruins rally for the win.
The win improved SLCC to 15-10.
The Bruins softball team swept a doubleheader from Dixie with 17-0 and 1-0 victories.
