REXBURG, Idaho — A trip to a local antique shop in January has resulted in the recent retrieval of a piece of Ricks College history. Two Ricks art teachers, Gerald Griffin and Matthew Geddes, found the organ that belonged to Rexburg founder Thomas E. Ricks in the Main Street Antique Mall in Rexburg. The two teachers knew it was part of local history when they found documentation that it had been on campus for a number of years, Brother Geddes said.
"It is meaningful to the area and to the college," he added. "We felt like it should be part of Ricks College."
As a result, the antique was bought through money from the college's Performing and Fine Arts Division budget. The organ is on display on the second floor of the Eliza R. Snow Center for the Performing Arts.
