As temples are prepared for our members, our members need to prepare for the temple.
"Every activity, every lesson, all we do in the church, point to the Lord and his holy house. Our efforts to proclaim the gospel, perfect the Saints and redeem the dead all lead to the temple."
Worthiness is a prerequisite for temple attendance. Trying to "cut corners" in preparing to accept temple covenants could be "worse than not making them at all."
Such preparation includes recognition of the temple ordinances as revelations from the Lord; acceptance of the sealing authority of the priesthood; and interviews with bishops and stake presidents who confirm an individual's worthiness.
"Why are these issues so critical? Because they are spiritual separators" that mark templegoers as willing to live in accord with the Lord's wishes. "To hold a temple recommend is a priceless privilege and a tangible sign of obedience to God and his prophets."
The temple is a leveler where "nationality, language or position in the church are of secondary significance."
Study for temple preparation can be enhanced by reading seven topics in the Bible Dictionary: anoint, Atonement, Christ, covenant, fall of Adam, sacrifices and temple.
The sealing authority reserved to the temple can take the fear from death. "Death cannot sever families sealed in the temple."
"In this world smitten with spiritual decay," church members prepared and worthy of temple blessings can "lift the lives of all mankind."
