The State Tax Commission's Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division has helped 54 automobile owners obtain titles to their vehicles.
The buyers were unable to get their titles after the company they bought them from, the 45th Street Motor Co., closed its doors.
According to the Tax Commission, the owner of the dealership, Mark Thorn, pleaded guilty in 3rd District Court last month to five counts of failing to deliver title and pay off lienholders.
Thorn is scheduled for sentencing April 2. The reported losses total more than $450,000, according to the Tax Commission.
