Device helps W.V. police identify drugs in home

WEST VALLEY CITY — Police used an "Ionscan" machine to detect cocaine and marijuana residue in several areas of a home here, including the table where a 10-year-old child ate, according to a 3rd District Court document.

A 36-year-old female and 39-year-old male have been charged with endangerment of a child or elder adult, a third-degree felony.

Police responded to the home Feb. 17 after an occupant called about an uncle who suffered a seizure, according to a report. Upon arrival, police found that the residence was "extremely dirty" and contained drug paraphernalia. Both suspects admitted using cocaine and marijuana earlier in the day.
