SALT LAKE CITY - <! > Rachel Love Braegger, 98, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, in Phoenix, Arizona, of causes incident to age.
She was born October 31, 1902, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Alonzo Frank Taysum and Alice Simmons. On June 22, 1927, Rachel married Claude Elroy Love in the Salt Lake Temple.
They resid-ed in Salt Lake City, where she worked at C.R. Savage Co., Utah Photo, Salt Lake Photo, Deseret Book and the University of Utah. Claude passed away on November 29, 1947. She married Frank Abraham Braegger on February 1, 1957, and moved to Ogden, Utah, where she lived for nearly 45 years. Frank died on June 18, 1971. She worked at Doctors Business Management Service in Ogden until she was in her 80's. She later moved to Murray, Utah, where she cared for her daughter-in-law until just a few years before her passing. A son had been caring for her in Phoenix since April of 2000. Rachel was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions over the years. She was Relief Society President in the Ogden 9th Ward for nine years. She was also active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Rachel loved music and sang in ward and stake choirs and with the Singing Mothers. She also enjoyed quilting and other handiwork and traveling to visit family members. She was a skilled homemaker and a cherished mother and grandmother who devoted most of her life to selflessly serving her family and others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are two sons, Lowell Love, Phoenix, AZ; Dennis Love, Idaho Falls, ID; one stepdaughter, Jeanne Ballif, Logan, Utah; 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by two sons, Claude E. Love Jr., James Howard Love, three sisters, two brothers, and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E., Bishop Mike Bawden officiating. Friends and family may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park on Highland Drive in Salt Lake City.
