NEW YORK (AP) — A woman who suffered a fractured skull after a balloon slammed into a lamppost during the 1997 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has settled a lawsuit against the department store and city, her attorney said.
Kathleen Caronna resolved the suit on the eve of jury selection, lawyer John Q. Kelly said in a statement Tuesday.
He did not immediately return a call seeking details. Caronna had sought $95 million in compensatory damages from Macy's, New York City and the lamppost manufacturer. She was also seeking $300 million in punitive damages from Macy's.
