PROVO--<! > Marvel Davis Sunderland, 80, died Monday, March 5, 2001, in Provo.
She was born September 29, 1920, in Salem, Utah, to Leo W. and Cora Lee Cloward Davis. She married Jarold L. Sunderland, July 12, 1940, in Nephi. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, January 22, 1953. She served in several community and church positions. She was the first PTA president of Greenwood Elementary School. She belonged to the Alpine Country Club, Arlitra Guild, and played bridge with a special group of friends. She was dramatically talented and directed many church plays and road shows. She was frequently asked to give dramatic readings for clubs and church.
She was an enviable homemaker, wife, and mother. Marvel and Jerry loved camping and boating, and enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, and Canada; and many other places in the U.S.
Her legacy to us all was her love of reading and education. She worked at Penney's to help all three of her daughters get a college education.
She is survived by her husband Jarold L. Sunderland; three daughters: Pat (Michael) Pritchett, Susan (Gary) Schiffman, and Cora Lee (Sterling) Jckowski; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brothers: Blair (Ellen) Davis, Vance (Carma) Davis; sisters, Vera (Martin) Taylor, and Mable Wyler, and an Uncle, Russell Davis.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard and Gary Lee Davis.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 10, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial, Lehi City Cemetery.
