The U.S. Postal Service is helping to support and encourage diabetes education with a 34-cent Diabetes Awareness commemorative stamp.
The stamp features two elements associated with diabetes testing and research: a microscope and a test tube. The phrase "Know More About Diabetes" is on the left.
In October, the USPS launched a yearlong diabetes awareness campaign in association with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, the American Diabetes Association, the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Association of Diabetes Educators. The stamp will be available March 16. First day of issue postmarks are available by mail. You can buy the stamp at your local post office. Affix it to a self-addressed envelope and mail in another envelope addressed to: Diabetes Awareness Stamp, Postmaster, P.O. Box 9696, Boston, MA 02205-9991. Orders must be postmarked by April 16.
The Stamp Fulfillment Service of the USPS also offers first-day covers. Call 1-800-STAMP-24.
