Shirlene Sears Martin, age 71, our devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away March 29, 2001 at Ogden Regional Hospital.
Born Nov 28, 1929 in Salt Lake City, UT, in covenant to Milton Henry Sears and Ida May Racine. When first born she was given the name of Baby Girl Sears and has deeply loved babies, having five of her own. She married Kay LaMarr Martin in 1948 in Salt Lake City, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She was raised in Salt Lake City and has lived in Willard the last 21 years. She attended Hawthorne Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High and graduated South High School and Seminary.
As a past member of Columbus Ward, Primary President, Granite Stake Board Member, Willard Third Ward Relief Society President, and D.U.P., she lived every moment of life with complete enthusiasm. She had many friends that she loved and was thankful for. Her total commitment to Church and family was reflected in her love and concern for her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. We will never be able to fill the void her passing has left.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Kay LaMarr Martin; two sons and three daughters, Kay Lawrence Martin, Provo, UT, Brian Sears (Lonne White) Martin, Willard, UT, Ann Marie Heward, Albany, OR, Janet (James) Labrum, Shedd, OR, Michele (Brett) Van Sickle, Ogden, UT; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Marion Bennion, Taylorsville, UT; nephew, Don Whitaker, Orem, UT; many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; sister, Ruth Whitaker; and brother, Don Sears.
Services will be Tues. April 3, 11 a.m., Willard 3rd LDS Ward Chapel, 80 N. 100 W, Willard. Friends may call Sun. April 1, 6-8 p.m., at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Midvale; and Mon. April 2, 6-8 p.m. at Olsen-Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 1st E, Brigham City. Friends may also call at the Willard 3rd Ward Tues. 10-11 a.m. Interment, Willard City Cemetery.
