Helen Frances Wattis Burton, 75, of Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully at home after a lingering illness, March 30, 2001.

She was born Nov. 28, 1925, in Beverly Hills, CA to Frances Young and Edmund O. Wattis.

"Dill" traveled the world and saw all of the seven continents. She thrilled at the thought of travel but said "it's always nice to come home." On their 50th wedding anniversary, Bud and Dill took their family and spouses on a "Mediterranean Adventure of a lifetime" and saw many sights throughout Greece, Italy, France, and Spain. It was a great time well spent and one that we will never forget.

"Dill" was an avid golfer and member of Bloomington Country Club and Willow Creek Country Club and served as their Ladies Association President among many other duties. She played bridge with her high school friends for many years and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

"Dill" will never be forgotten. Her fairness and her generosity to her family are her legacy. Even though she was so uncomfortable for the last few years, she remained kind and sweet through the end. She was a great example throughout her life and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

"Dill" is survived by her husband of 57 years, A.D. "Bud" Burton; five children and their spouses, Barbara and Brian Gundersen, Wenatchee, WA, Brent and Kathy Burton, St. George, UT, Scott and Jan Burton, Alpine, UT, Kirk and Jann Burton, Chandler, AZ, Kim and Rick Plautz, Sandy, UT; one sister and her spouse, Joan and George Moss, Salt Lake City; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Ray Wattis; and sister, Marge Petersen.

Thanks go to LeAnn Stenberg and Jennifer Shaw, hospice nurses who got all of us through this; Lee Olson also of Hospice, who always had good advice and a kind, listening ear. Special thanks also to Laura Huch for physically holding our hands through the end. We couldn't have handled this without her.

Services will be Wed. April 4, 2001, 11 a.m., at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 S. 1700 E, Sandy, where friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m., and Wed. 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Entombment, Larkin Sunset Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to Community Nursing Service/Hospice.
