As part of April's Public Health Month, the Utah Department of Health, the Utah Alliance for Public Health, the Utah Public Health Association and the Department of Environmental Quality are sponsoring a youth art contest called "Public Health in Pictures." This year's Public Health Month theme is "Utah's Public Health is for Everybody, Everyday and Everywhere."

Youths can learn more by reading "A Day in the Life of Public Health" where public health impacts the quality of life throughout a typical day. This story, contest details and useful links can be found at www.health.state.ut.us/pio/phmonth/2001/.

Pictures will be judged by age category on creativity and message. The pictures should be original artwork and clearly identify an important role of public health. Pictures should be submitted on a white sheet of 8 1/2-by-11-inch paper and include the youth's age and full name on the back of the picture. All entries must be postmarked by April 30, 2001.

To enter, obtain a cover sheet at the above Web address and mail picture to: Public Health in Pictures, Utah Department of Health, Attention: Susannah Derbenwick, P.O. Box 142107, Salt Lake City, UT 84114-2107.
