ZION NATIONAL PARK — Park officials will close the popular Zion Canyon Scenic Drive to private automobiles and reintroduce shuttle buses to the park beginning Monday.

This is the second year for the Zion Canyon Transportation System, which will run through October.

"The return of the shuttle buses to Zion Canyon will provide the means for visitors to experience the beauty and tranquility of this spectacular canyon without the traffic congestion, parking problems and resulting visitor frustrations which were commonplace in past summer seasons," said Park Superintendent Marty Ott.

Visitors can catch the free shuttle buses at either the Zion Canyon Visitor Center or in Springdale. The service, provided by Parks Transportation Inc., will begin in the park and Springdale at 7 a.m. each day. Buses will stop running in the park at 9:30 p.m., and in Springdale at 10 p.m.
