There's still business to be done with the Salt Lake Organizing Committee.

Some $270 million is expected to be spent on everything from changing the sheets at the University of Utah's athletes village to putting up nearly 10 miles of security fencing around Olympic venues.

Many of the contracts, especially those for everyday services such as snow removal and waste management, will no doubt go to local companies, said Fraser Bullock, SLOC's chief operating officer.

One of the first questions bidders will be asked, however, is how much they're willing to donate. For example, Bullock said organizers hope to persuade area municipal golf courses to loan them the golf carts needed for on-site transportation at the various venues.

Goods and services still needed for the Games include banners, contract security, fireworks, flags, laundry and trucking as well as temporary workers. Contracts associated with the top-secret opening and closing ceremonies of the Games are also available.
