GREEN RIVER, Wyo. (AP) — A fugitive from Utah was arrested after a chase that ended with the man's truck splashing into the Green River.

Wanted on sexual-assault charges, Ronnie Langley, 31, of Vernal led officers through the city before driving into the river Tuesday night, authorities said.

The chase began about 10:45 p.m. when two state troopers spotted Langley's truck on U.S. 191 heading toward the city.

They radioed for assistance, and spikes were placed on I-80, puncturing the left tires. Langley kept going at about 40 mph, authorities said.

With officers in pursuit, Langley drove off I-80 and then over an embankment into the river.

Langley tried to wade away but gave up on the other side of the river.

He was jailed and was awaiting extradition to Utah.

In Wyoming, he faces charges of eluding officers, reckless driving, speeding, running stop signs, failure to signal and operating a metal tire on a roadway.
