OGDEN (AP) — An Ogden man has been sentenced to 45 days in jail for slipping sexually explicit notes under women's windshield wipers.
Robert G. Lindford, 46, was sentenced Tuesday by 2nd District Judge Ernie W. Jones on three counts of class A misdemeanor distribution of pornography and a class B misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lindford pleaded guilty to those charges Feb. 21 in exchange for dismissal of four other porn counts and a misdemeanor possession-of-marijuana charge.
He was arrested in January after Ogden police staked out the Newgate Mall parking lot for several weeks. Seven women had turned over the notes to security officers, who contacted police.
At his Jan. 11 arrest, Lindford admitted leaving the notes in the Newgate lot and also at the Layton Hills Mall, police said. A search turned up a pipe with marijuana.
He still faces a third-degree felony charge for the same kind of behavior alleged in the Layton Hills Mall involving a minor.
Jones banned Lindford from visiting either mall.
The orders are in effect for the duration of Lindford's probation, likely up to a year, upon his release from jail.
The judge also ordered him into counseling and to undergo an assessment for any substance abuse problems and treatment if the evaluations deem it necessary.
