Salt Lake City crews were able to contain a chemical spill before it leaked into the sewer system from a nearby shipping business.

Thursday morning 200 gallons of potassium hydroxide, a corrosive agent used to clean food products and facilities, spilled onto a loading dock area at Colorado Denver Delivery Co., 1032 S. Redwood Road.

The leak started when a forklift driver accidentally punctured the 270-gallon container holding the chemical.

Five employees were examined and released at the scene.
