Thomas "Tom" Larson Howard passed away peacefully April 14th, 2

001 in Salt Lake City at the age of 84.

He was born July 3, 1916 in Bountiful, UT, the son of Eva Charlotte Larson and Charles John Howard. He spent his early years in Malad, ID then moved to Pleasant Grove where he graduated from high school. Tom attended BYU until he was drafted into the army for five years during World War II. He served under General Pattons Third Army all throughout Europe and into Germany and earned a bronze star for valor. After an honorable discharge he continued his education at the U of U, then served his LDS Mission in New England States. On October 5, 1953 he married Meriel Kendall in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Thomas was employed as a hot metal crane operator for the American Foundry and then the Eimco Empire. Upon retirement he worked as a school crossing guard, receiving many certificates of merit valuing his 14 years of dedication. He was a valiant member of his church, answering many callings. Tom enjoyed running marathons, keeping bees and cheering for BYU sports teams.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years; his children Daniel C. (Sue) Howard, Terry K. (Cindy) Howard, Mayvonne (David) Wetzel, David L. Howard, Brian R. (Jannie) Howard and Annette (Lynn) Betty; 25 grandchilrden; and 1 1/2 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.

A funeral service is scheduled for Tues, April 17, at 12 noon at the Wilson Ward Chapel, 1860 So. 300 E, Salt Lake City. Friends

may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Redwood Memorial Estates, Taylorsville.

He

was a loved man without guile.
