Leland Andreas Peterson died in his Orem home on April 18, 2001 after a three month struggle with kid-ney failure.

Leland was born on September 23, 1936, to Reed Merrill Peterson and Arla May Stansfield Peter-son in Fairview, Utah.

He served and received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Edu-cation from Brigham Young University before marrying Judyth Ann Shadoan on Dec. 19, 1961 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.

Leland spent his entire career as an educator in California, Montana, and Utah. He spent the past 15 years as a special education teacher and administrator in the Granite School District. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, including an LDS Mission to the New England States.

Leland is survived by his wife, Judy, and their six children; Reed Monty (Reiko) of Orem; Scott John (Kelly) of Houston, TX; LeeAnn Wilma, New York City, NY; Andreas Lawrence (Amanda) of Orem; Kevin Ross (Carrie) of Provo; and Liberty Sproat (Ethan) of Provo; 16 grandchildren; his two sisters, Elaine (Bob) Bezzant and twin sister Leah Baird; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John Peter and Ross Merlin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the Aspen Stake Center, 965 W. 2000 N., Orem. Viewing will be Fri. evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N., Orem, UT and at the Stake Center on Saturday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to service. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
