Richard Rands, age 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, returned to his Heavenly Father April 18, 2001.
He was born January 12, 1919 in Salt Lake City to Arthur LeRoy Rands and Ellen Ruth Matheson. He married Pearl Peckham November 22, 1940, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Salt Lake where they were blessed with four children, 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He worked for Hi-Land Dairy for approximately 30 years. After his retirement, he was self-employed. He served as a scoutmaster for at least ten years, was Elders Quorum president, served three stake missions, was in the Sunday School presidency, executive secretary and was a temple worker for 13 years. He was a master gardener and many were blessed with the proceeds from his garden. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his sweetheart of 60 years, Pearl Rands; children:
Richard (Linda) Rands, Marge (Brent) Humes, Robert (Janet) Rands, Steven (Ilene) Rands, 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Ellen Rands. Preceded in death by brother, Arthur LeRoy Rands; sisters: Catherine L. Rands and Maurine M. Isakeson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive, where family and friends may call on Friday 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday 8:45-9:45 a.m., prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
