LeRoy M. Jensen passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2001 in the presence of his loving family in West Valley City at the age of 65.

Born May 24, 1935 to Byron D. and Eliza Pledger Jensen in Ogden, UT. After graduation from West High he began his 36 year career for Union Pacific Rail Road starting as a switchman-brakeman, locomotive engineer and retiring as manager of train service training. He also served in the Air Force for four years, primarily stationed in Japan. He wed his sweetheart Helen Royce Gardiner on Feb 16, 1960 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was a member of the Granger Lions Club and the LDS church and was also very active in the community. He loved music and enjoyed singing in the church. He adored his children and his grandchildren. He loved camping, hunting, trips to Yellowstone, his horses and slow drives with his family. He always made time to enjoy his children and grandchildren, attending all of their school and sporting activities.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; his mother, Eliza; his children Royce (Ed) Failner, Keith (Edie) Jensen, Michael (Stacie) Jensen and Stacey Jensen (John); his brothers and sisters Don Jensen, Louis Jensen, Caroline Rule, Geraldine MacGaha , Kathy Aston and Tom Jensen; grandchildren, Andy, Matt, Austin, Lindsay, Jeniece, Derek, Jayce, Karlee, Kalli, Mick, Ryan; and his little buddy Rusty.

He is preceded in death by a daughter Lynne; his father, Byron (Curly); his sister Beverly; his granddaughter Reagan; and his mother-in-law Mildred Gardiner.

Everyone he met was a friend. All are welcome to attend funeral services Wed, April 4, 2001, noon, at the Granger 23rd Ward Chapel, 2850 W 3835 S, West Valley City. Friends may call Tues from 6 to 8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Rd and also one hour prior to services at the Ward.
