Answer: That's Tony Award-winning actress Kelly Bishop. She played mom Marjorie Houseman in "Dirty Dancing." Now she's a mother/grandmother in the multigenerational "Gilmore Girls" series, Thursdays on the WB.

Bishop won a Best Featured Actress Tony as Sheila in the original production of "A Chorus Line." She's been in many films. Some of them available on video are the Oscar-nominated "Wonder Boys," "Cafe Society," "Private Parts" and "Miami Rhapsody."

Question: Who does the song at the beginning of NBC's "Ed"?

Question: I know Mark Harmon's dad is Tom Harmon, the football player, but I can't remember who his mother (an actress) is. Elyse Knox comes to mind, but I am unsure. Can you help? — K.D., Rancho Cordova, Calif.

Answer: Mark Harmon ("St. Elsewhere," "Chicago Hope") is the son of the late collegiate football star/sportscaster Tom Harmon and Elyse Knox, a leading lady of the 1940s. The elder Harmon died in 1990 of a heart attack. Mark's sisters are Kristin Tinker, widow of Rick Nelson, and Kelly Harmon, of Tic-Tac commercial fame.

Question: I'm seeking information on a TV show called "Desperado." Who was the star of the show? It's been some time since I've seen the show but I can't seem to get that guy out of my head. Is he in anything else? — S.F., via e-mail

Answer: Alex McArthur starred as Western drifter Duell McCall in the 1987 series "Desperado" and its three sequels. His other movies include "Kiss the Girls," "Race to Glory," "Rampage" and "Drug Wars." You can also catch the 44-year-old actor in his younger days playing Madonna's boyfriend in her "Papa Don't Preach" video.
