Members of the "Communities at Peace" collaboration of the United Way recently completed a project of purchasing and assembling newborn layettes for 150 of this community's neediest families. This was made possible through generous donations by Delta and American Express. Employees of the Fort Union Wal-Mart went far beyond the call of duty by helping us secure the best prices and then delivering the items at the assembly site. Midvale city graciously offered the use of an empty building for the project. Salt Lake area residents participated by dropping off donations of new clothing, diapers and toys at Fred Meyer stores.
All this tremendous support came about as a result of United Way's "Reduce Abuse" campaign to increase awareness of and solutions to the problem of domestic violence. On behalf of clients served by the YWCA Battered Women's Shelter, Cornerstone Counseling, the Legal Aid Society, Peace House of Park City and the Family Support Center, we express our sincere appreciation.
