DUGWAY PROVING GROUND — Students from this Army base's elementary school will tour Dugway's West Desert Test Center this week, learning about their parents' jobs.
"We have scheduled three days to take them through," said spokeswoman Melanie Moore. Much of the center's activities involve testing equipment to protect against biological and chemical attack.
After a briefing by Col. David Coker, commander of the test center, the children will inspect thermal imaging equipment, visit the technical library and chemical laboratory. At the Life Science Test Facility, they will participate in a science demonstration involving growing cell cultures.
The children will take a look at the base fire department's burn display, and tour the Target S Grid, which is used for artillery tests.
