Galen L. Whetman, 76, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, died April 3, 2001 in a Sandy, Utah hospital of emphysema.
Galen was born May 20, 1924 in Riverton, Utah to George E. and Leici Page Whetman. On July 14, 1945 he married Jean Parker in Salt Lake City, Utah. Galen was a Veteran of World War II and a member of the Draper American Legion and he was a High Priest in the LDS Church. Following in the footsteps of his father, Galen enjoyed a lifelong career in automobile sales, having businesses in both Sandy and Draper, Utah.
Survivors: wife, Jean, Sandy; son, Wayne (Mila) Whetman, Draper; granddaughters, Machel and Whitney Whetman; brothers and sisters, Phil (Velora) Whetman, Draper; Kent (Mary) Whetman, Page (Linda) Whetman, both Sandy; Reta Gardner, Sandy; Leici (Tom) Webb, Los Gatos, California; also many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by grandson, Clint Whetman; sisters, Beverly Whetman; Glora Walker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Sandy Central LDS Stake Center, 1050 E. Galena Drive (9820 South). Friends may call at Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State, Friday 5:30-8 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
