As an Eagle Scout, I felt it my obligation to defend the Boy Scouts of America against the cries of prejudice raised against it.

How sad it is to see one of the great organizations that help to mold values into young people today being assaulted for standing up for its beliefs.

One of the requirements of moving up in rank is knowing, among other things, the Scout Oath. The Scout Oath says "On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight."

Being gay is not being morally straight. Why can't these people realize that the Scouting organization cannot back down on its morals? If they did that, Scouting would cease to be Scouting.

Three cheers to a great program that has not compromised its beliefs under pressure.
